Trenni Casey (née Kusnierek)

She wanted television by age eight and grew up on Milwaukee sports—the 1982 Brewers, Robin Yount, Rollie Fingers, Paul Molitor—before leaving Muskego High School in 1995 for a probationary internship at WISN Channel 12.

Born Trenni Kusnierek in 1977, she spent her childhood in Wind Lake in the Town of Norway, with a Muskego yearbook that still ties her to the Warriors. She started at UW-Oshkosh, then transferred to Marquette after the station told her she needed that campus for the desk; she graduated in journalism in 1999 and stayed five years on the assignment desk and in the field. Her first on-camera job was at WXOW in Eau Claire in February 2000. She mailed a tape to Channel 58 “on a wing and a prayer” and came home. The embarrassing local story is County Stadium in summer 1998: practicing a stand-up while José Valentín was hitting, a photographer’s light in a Phillies pitcher’s eyes, the umpire stopping play, Matt Vasgersian on the air, and the park booing her.

From 2002 to 2007 she worked at Fox Sports Pittsburgh, then returned for the Brewers and MLB Network before the Boston chair. The dual-suburb claim is honest: Wind Lake for childhood, Muskego High for the diploma. The Olympics and the weeknight host seat are the national résumé.
