Jalem Getz is one of Milwaukee's best-known e-commerce builders.
He co-founded seasonal retailer GMI in 1995 at age 22, then launched BuySeasons in 1999 and grew the New Berlin–based costume and party supplier to hundreds of employees and roughly $175 million in sales before selling to Liberty Media for more than $55 million in 2006 and staying on as CEO into 2010–2011.
In 2012 he founded Wantable, a try-before-you-buy personal styling retailer headquartered in Milwaukee's Walker's Point. Wantable cracked the Inc. 500 (No. 223 in 2017), raised venture capital including Cream City Venture Capital / Northwestern Mutual's fund, and expanded into a large Walker's Point campus with a public café that became a local founder hangout. BizTimes later put him on its Wisconsin 275 list of influential business leaders.
More recently he has founded Fluency, focused on influencer–follower relationship tools, while remaining a Milwaukee-based operator and investor through vehicles such as Republic Holdings.
